Get More: MTV Supervideo, Music, Best Coast
This new video for Best Coast's "Our Deal" is, in a way, sort of a warning about the co-opting of indie styles by the major labels. If the corpse of electronic music was necrophiliated by certain titled members of the Gaga family, then MTV's new division, MTVX, will undoubtedly attempt to bring a predigested version of the indie aesthetic (whatever that is) into a place where it can be not only made profitable, but in easily administered radio format as well. No one is better suited for radio play than Best Coast, of no fault of their own; I wish them well and complement them on a great video, regardless of its effect on the future of the aesthetic.
